**ACTIVE & PASSIVE, Jan. 3rd, 2013**



Use the verb with the base form of talk in two different sentences. Sentence 1 should be in the active voice; sentence 2 should reword the sentence to the passive voice.

Active voice: The president talks about the new laws.

Passive voice: The new laws are being talked by the president.

Active: Last week the children only talked about the Christmas concert.
Passive: Last week the Christmas concert was only talked about by the children.

EDUARDO:Almost--there's a word missing from the passive sentence;-)
SARA: Good, but I want you to notice the difference in meaning because of your placement of the word "only."

ALEXEY:The active voice is good, but the passive voice sentence doesn't work because you have 'they' int he subject position;-)

Yesterday they were talking about the elections during the meeting.

Two days ago they were talked to about the elections by a weird-looking stranger.
