Learning to combine ideas into more complex sentences is an
important skill in writing. There are many ways to do this--many possible bonus
points! Try to combine the following three sentences.
Sentence 1: We are at the beginning of a new year.
Sentence 2: The weather is wintery, but we hope it is almost
half over.
Sentence 3: Some of us are thinking ahead to what the new
year will bring and that includes warmer
weather.

We are at the beginning of a new year, which means the weather is wintery, but we hope it is almost half over because some of us are thinking ahead to what the new year will bring and that includes warmer weather.
YOSUA: Almost--your use of "because" doesn't work well here;-)
We are at the beginning of a new year; even though the weather is wintery, but we hope it is almost half over, and some of us are thinking ahead to what the year will bring and that includes warmer weather.

Some of us are thinking ahead to what the new year will bring and that includes warmer weather because the weather is wintery, but we hope it is almost half over even though we are at the beginning of a new year.
ZEINAB:almost--you can't use "even though" and "but" together like that;-)
ALEXEY: Almost--there is some ambiguity about the weather;-)

We are at the beginning of a new year, which means the weather is wintery, but we hope it is almost half over that's why some of us are thinking ahead to what the new year will bring and that includes warmer weather.
We are at the beginning of a new year so the weather is wintery, but we hope it is almost half over therefore some of us are thinking ahead to what the year will bring and that includes warmer weather.

We hope the wintery weather is almost half over as we begin a new year, and some of us are thinking ahead as to what the new year will bring including a warmer weather.

We are at the beginning of a new year and the weather is wintery, but we hope it is almost half over; some of us are thinking ahead to what the new year will bring and that includes warmer weather.
YOSUA:That's better:-)
ZEINAB:yes--now can you fix the punctuation?
RUFUS:Almost--there's an article you need to omit;-)
ALEXEY: Much better!-
At the beginning of the new year we hope that we are halfway the wintery weather; and some think ahead about the warmer weather the new year will bring later.
SARA: Very close--you're missing a word (half way through) ;-)
