**TIME CHANGE, Jan. 18th, 2013**

Change the time in the following sentence by the replacing the words “earlier this month” with a different time clue and change the verbs appropriately. (Each student should use a different time clue/verb tense).

Earlier this month I exchanged some Christmas gifts even though I didn’t know what I would  be getting instead until I got to the stores; I was looking for inspiration once I was there.

Next month I will exchange some Christmas gifts even though I won´t know what I will be getting instead until I get to the stores; I will be looking for inspiration once I am there.

Every year I exchange some Christmas gifts even though I don’t know what I want to get instead until I go to the stores; I look for inspiration once I am there.

I have already exchanged some Christmas gifts even though I still don’t know what I will get instead until I get to the stores; I am looking for inspiration once I am there.

ZEINAB:Well done:-)
ALEXEY: You need to change more of the verbs--right now, this is not making good sense;-)

RUFUS:Yes, but you should use a different time frame from other students--each one needs to be different;-)
ALEXEY: You start with the present perfect--you need to continue with this as much as possible. When you switch to the future, it doesn't make sense;-)

I have already exchanged some Christmas gifts even though I haven’t known what I can get instead until I get to the stores; I have looked for inspiration once I am there.

Many times I have exchanged some Christmas gifts even though I don’t know what I want to get instead until I get to the stores; I look for inspiration once I am there.

ALEXEY: You chose a difficult tense--it would have worked better to continue the sentence as: ... even though I hadn’t known what I could get instead until I had got to the stores; I had looked for inspiration once I was there.
SARA:After starting with the present perfect, it would have been better to continue with the simple past or the past perfect;-)
