*SENTENCE COMBINATION*

Learning to combine ideas into more complex sentences is an important writing skill. There are many ways to do this. Try to combine the following three sentences. Do not use a semi-colon.

Sentence 1: Canada Day fell on a Friday this year.
Sentence 2: The fireworks display was spectacular, but it started very late because of the long daylight hours.
Sentence 3: The July 1st holiday was a great way to start the new month.

The spectacular fireworks display to celebrate Canada Day which fell on Friday July 1st of this year started very late because of the long daylight hours but was a great way to start the new month.

Well done, Brad!

But remember to put commas on both sides of the relative clause ("...Canada Day, which fell..., started very late..."
