*SENTENCE COMBINATION*

Learning to combine ideas into more complex sentences is an important writing skill. There are many ways to do this. Try to combine the following three sentences.

Sentence 1: The world is uncertain.
Sentence 2: In this world, we cannot cannot know what the future will bring.
Sentence 3: We must be prepared for any eventuality.

In this world, we cannot cannot know what the future will bring, so we must be prepared for any eventuality; as the world is uncertain.

Good try, Bailey, but there are a few problems with your answer. The most serious is the use of the semi-colon before the subordinate clause.

The trick here is to see that "The world is uncertain" can be made into a modifier; then the rest falls into place:

In this uncertain world, we cannot cannot know what the future will bring, so we must be prepared for any eventuality.
