**ACTIVE & PASSIVE, Feb. 15th, 2013**
Use the verb with the base ring in two different sentences. Sentence 1 should be in the active
voice; sentence 2 should reword the sentence to the passive voice.

In Christmas time, the door knocker is ringed with a wreath of holly.
ZEINAB:That's better:-) JANE:Sentence 1 is good, but the other one is also the active voice;-) YOSUA:You've identified the problem, but that's still not the correct preposition;-) ALEXEY: The verbs are good , but in both sentences there is a word you need to omit;-)

The next door neighbor is ringing the door bell.
The door is being ringed by the next door neighbor.

The chef rang the bell when the order was up.
The waitress knew the order was ready by the ringing of the bell.

ALEXEY: Yes--"around" is totally redundant in those sentences:-)
Steve gave the ring to Marie.
Marie was given Steve's ring.
I heard a ringing in my ear after my niece screamed in fright.
A ringing in my ear could be heard after my niece screamed in fright.
1# Tom is going to ring the bell on Christmas Day.
2# The bell is going to be rung on Christmas Day by Tom.
GEORGE:You have used "ring" as a noun instead of as a verb:-(
KENNETH: You need to use "ring" as a verb, not as a noun:-(
