1. As of yesterday we are already one-third of the way through the year.
2. In our school we are already one-third of the way through the year.
3. Sam and Jim are excited we are already one-third of the way through the year.

James, you subordinated the original clause instead of adding a dependent clause. And what about the other sentences?

Patty, your second sentence adds a phrase rather than a dependent clause, and your third sentence would be clearer without the conjunction omitted: "Sam and Jim are excited *that* we are already one-third of the way through the year."
