Sentence 1. Add a phrase:    December is almost upon us with lots of festivities.
 
Sentence 2. Add a dependent clause: Although the temperature outside is 3°C, December is almost upon us.

Sentence 3. Add an independent clause: December is almost upon us, and we have already planned our Christmas vacation.

Sentence 1. Grandma, December is almost upon us.
Sentence 2. December is almost upon us, even if there is no snow on the ground and the temperature outside is well above zero.
Sentence 3. December is almost upon us, but I'm not ready for holidays yet.
